In this regard, in 2017, as part of a TEAM project on eco-sustainability led by ABB and Maip – a research company of raw materials – SP PLAST Creating contributed to the victory of the Bioplastic Awards by producing an article in the first Biological Technopolymer, or Biopolymer.
Bioplastics, as defined by European Bioplastics, is a term used to describe two different types of plastics, that is plastics based on renewable sources where the focus is the origin of the base material used and biodegradable and compostable plastics according to EN 13432 or ASTMD 6400 or similar standards where the focus is on the compostability of the final product. Therefore, biodegradable and / or compostable plastics can derive from renewable sources (BIOBASED) and / or from non-renewable sources.
